Abstract

In increasing awareness of environmental hygiene, sometimes requires a unique
way so that each individual is interested, so they do not hesitate to dispose of
waste in its place. Trash cans are generally opened and closed manually. This
makes it difficult for someone to dispose of garbage or clean up garbage that is
full. This research was conducted at the Polytechnic NSC Surabaya, providing a
solution by making a smart trash bin based on Arduino Nano, using the HC-SR04
sensor, servo motor, adapter circuit, speaker and LCD. The Smart Trash Bin
uses an Arduino board-based HC-SR04 sensor as a distance detector, while the
servo motor is used as a driver for opening and closing the trash can, and the
speaker and LCD as a notification that the trash is full.
